My tangential brain went from this to what I long ago read (I think it was in the Time-Life Chinese Cookbook) that the literal translation of the Chinese for, “He doesn’t know how to cook.” is “He doesn’t know how to hold a knife.” We are handed so many knives in life’s kitchen.
